At 4:30 in the morning I got up to go to the restroom and noticed my pants were wet. I was half asleep and thought "surely I didn't wet my pants" LOL! Then as I woke up my heart started racing...my water had broken!! I was so excited and nervous at the same time. All the walking at the Highlands the night before with my Mom had worked! I already had a doctors appointment scheduled that morning, so I was trying to make it to the appointment to see my doctor first ( I know I'm crazy!). By 7:00 I had taken a shower, put my makeup on, packed up the car and was ready to go. My contractions were getting harder by this point. Matt ran through the McDonald's drive-thru to get us breakfast because I knew that would be the last meal I would be able to eat for awhile. But by this time my contractions were getting so strong, I couldn't eat. I was holding on for dear life in the car. We finally made it to the doctor's office at 7:45. I walked right in and the nurse said "Cari are you OK, you don't look so good"? I said "well I think this is it"! They immediately sent me back to Dr. Atkins to be checked. Dr. Atkins then tells me I have only dilated to a 2. I was about to slap him I think at this point b/c I was in so much pain, I was not about to go home! He then did another test and sure enough my water had broken!! So we got in the car and headed across the street. We went right up to the delivery room and they checked me right in. Then it seemed like FOREVER before a nurse came to check on me. I finally had Matt push the nurse button b/c I just knew my contractions were 1 minute apart. Finally they
hooked me all up and got my IV's going.
At 11:00 I was dilated to a 6...and I was in pain!! I was so glad to see the anesthesiologist at this point to give me my epidural. By this time, it couldn't work fast enough. My contractions were so strong the epidural was having a hard time catching up to be effective. Within 30 minutes I had dilated to an 8. I heard one of the nurses say "she should have this baby by lunch time". By 12:15 I was pushing...12:30 Dr. Fielder came in for the delivery...12:54 pm Parker was here!!
Dr. Martin Fielder
It was the most amazing moment we have ever experienced! I truly believe because I didn't know the sex of my baby, I pushed harder to get the baby here faster. I was so blessed to have such a fast and easy delivery. When Parker came out all I heard was Matt saying "It's a Boy" with such joy. I started crying and laughing because I was so happy to have a son!
The moment I found out it was a Boy!!
They put Parker on my tummy so I could see him for a quick moment before they took him away. When I saw his sweet face for the first time my heart just melted. Children are such a blessing from God and Matt and I thank Him everyday for our little miracle!
Proud Daddy!

he looks so good. I am glad everything went so well. Congrats again.
What a precious story! I love how elated you and Matt look in the pics. And I can't wait to meet Parker!
So glad you guys are home doing well. I can't wait to come by and see little Parker again.
He looks so much like Matt! Thanks for filling us in. I love birth stories and yours is impressive (you made it to 6 cm before the epidural- that's awesome!)
Cari, he's perfect! I'm so glad you shared the whole story. Can't wait to see more pictures.
